about

In 1981, Booth and I began renting a small factory in Teneriffe, Brisbane, complete with loading bay, small front office and factory floor. We had amps, guitar, Korg synthesiser, Casiotone keyboard (MT-45 maybe) and a whole lot of space. We also had a boom box, I guess you'd call it, on which we recorded direct to cassette many of our initial attempts at getting some racket together to play live. This was the beginnings of Pork. These recordings form the basis of this release.

The major influence is clear, at least to me - the 1977 album Cluster & Eno - but of course, we were so musically inept, we got not nowhere near the heights of that record.

Although the toons have been rudimentally remixed, and even added to where considered appropriate, by and large these are the very first Pork tracks, even though pretty much none of them were ever played when we did eventually have the gall to start playing live in Brisbane .... and start to rip off Caberet Voltaire (as best we could).

Volume 2 will be very different.
